primitiv (Ramble Records, 09.2022) is the third solo album by Julien Tassin, and successor to the critically acclaimed records ‘Momentum’ en ‘Pictures From Home’. The central theme of the album encompasses the human being in its most primitive and essential form. An interpretation of how humans began to move on earth, to mix, to gather and to divide. It sets to music the initiatory dimension of existence.
primitiv is a quest for the essence, approaching a less is more attitude. A collection of sparse notes, sometimes solely, sometimes as a recurring mantra. This leaves a lot of space for improvisation, free of any constraints.
The album is a mix of blues, jazz, avant garde and ambient. Music with a universal character, blending European, American and African elements.

In the upcoming year of 2025, Julien Tassin is set to release his fourth solo album, “Wild Around”. This album follows the thematic footsteps of his previous solo venture, “primitiv” (2022) delving deeper a raw unique approach of the guitar. « Wild Around » focuses on the inner shadows and doubts that haunt humanity, reflecting both the doubts that people harbor about themselves and Julien's personal uncertainties about the state of the world we inhabit.

Since the onset of the Covid pandemic, Julien has keenly observed the prevalence of mental struggles in the world around him. These observations have profoundly impacted his music, resulting in emotionally charged compositions infused with rhythm and rawness. This new album brings together melody and radicality, beauty and roughness, mirroring Julien's perception of living as a human being in 2023. « Wild Around » is an ode to life in our tumultuous world at this particular moment.
